Consultations
Results report without consultation
Sometimes you don't need a full appointment, you just need to know what your results mean. I review your results personally and send you a clear written report that explains what they show, in plain language, and what, if anything, should happen next.
Your written report
Prepared by Dr Thomas Erblich, Consultant Haematologist
What it usually covers
- Which tests were done and why they matter
- What your results mean, explained without jargon
- My recommendation on next steps, if any are needed
A clear answer, without another appointment
Waiting to hear about blood results can be unsettling, especially when you're looking after your family as well as yourself. A written report gives you my interpretation of your results in a form you can read at your own pace, keep for your records and share with your GP if you wish.
When a written report works well
- Your results are part of monitoring we have already planned together
- Your condition is stable and you mainly want to know whether anything has changed
- You would find it easier to have the explanation in writing rather than travel to clinic
When a consultation is better
- You have new symptoms, or existing ones have changed
- Your results raise new questions or point towards a change in treatment
- You would simply feel more reassured talking things through in person
If your results raise something we should discuss properly, I'll say so clearly in your report and may recommend a follow-up consultation, so nothing important is left to a letter alone.
About follow-up consultationsHow it works
Three simple steps, from your tests to a report in your hands.
-
Your tests are done
Your blood tests or other investigations are carried out, and the results come through to me.
-
I review your results
I look at your results personally, alongside what I know about your history and any earlier tests.
-
Your written report is sent
You receive a clear summary of what your results show and my advice on any next steps.
Common questions
Can't find what you're looking for? Contact the practice and we'll be glad to help.
Is a results report right for me?
It usually suits results that don't need a detailed conversation, such as planned monitoring when things are stable. If you're unsure, please get in touch before booking and we'll help you choose the right option.
What if my report raises more questions?
That's completely understandable. If your results need a proper discussion, I'll recommend a follow-up consultation in your report so we can talk things through together.
How long will it take, and what does it cost?
Timing depends on when your results become available. For current fees, and whether your insurer covers a results report, please contact the practice before booking.
Can I share my report with my GP?
Yes. The report is yours to keep, and you're welcome to share it with your GP or any other doctor involved in your care.
